Still smilling after all her bumps and bruises
Madelyn and Bailey
I wish I knew how to insert arrows to pin point what was left of her egg size bump, but its just north of her hair part and down.
Madelyn took a big tumble and hit the back of her head on a tile floor while we were visiting in Abilene. The scream was piercing and we heard from the other room and instantly we knew it was not good. She was crying so hard it was hard to understand what had happened, but what did hear was "head". My heart stopped when I felt this huge egg protruding from her little head. Michael came over, saw it and said let's go. He said that he has worked too long with Organ Donation to mess around with a head injuries. By the time we made it to the ER the bump protruded at 3/4 of an inch by 3 inches wide and just kept growing. My heart ached for Madelyn as she cried and kept telling me she was in pain. It is such a helpless feeling as a parent when you can't instantly make them feel better. She started going through the combative phase to lethargic and was hard to arouse. Then did a CT of her noggin, the whole time she was strapped down and crying. By the end , I am not sure who cried more me or her. But the CT tech was wonderful--thank you Susy! She had every cartoon sticker and gave Madelyn like twenty stickers for being so brave. The kept us for a while to monitor her and finally released late that night and said to make sure you watch or neurological changes and her breathing. Why do you tell a mother that as you are releasing them in the middle of the night! Poor Madelyn couldn't get comfortable and the times she started to drift off, she would turn her head and hit her bump. Needless to say that we did not sleep much that night.

Happy to return back to McKinney, we were home for maybe a half an hour when Madelyn was chasing Bailey and ran into the corner of the kitchen wall and busted open her forehead. Poor thing had matching goose eggs-one for the front and one for the back.
The next morning we were heading out the door and Madelyn ran into the garage door, hit her head again as it was going up, she bounced back and fell hitting her bump again on the concrete. Back to the doctor's office that morning. What is causing all these problems? Vision, ear infections??? Just not sure. We get home from the doctors and she resting on the couch and some how manages to fall off the back and land on the top of her head! Come on, we can only handle so many boo-boos in such a short time frame.

Wow, poor kid! And poor parents! That's a hard series of events.
Kaelin goes through phases occasionally where she seems unable to function without injuring herself. We usually chalk it up to growing and being unaware of her actual size. A few weeks ago we thought we would end up in the ER when she ran face-first into the corner of the dining table. That lump swelled up so big I thought it would burst. But then it went down and you could hardly see it the next day. It's amazing how quickly they get over these things.
